1944 - 2023
Merlin Gunter (Tosh) passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday August 12th 2023.
He was a kind, friendly man with a great sense of humour who lit up the room with his brilliant smile. He loved to be surrounded by his family and friends and was always eager to lend a helping hand, whether it was with family or in the community.
Merlin leaves behind his loving wife of 56 years Mary Lodge, his beloved children Rodney (Connie), Scott (Suzanne) and Holly (Rock). His grandchildren Felicia (Andrew), Rebecca (Matt), Megan (Steve), Jonathan (Camille), Jennifer (Samuel), Ashlie (Alex), Madison, Kolton (Emma) and his great-grandchildren Austin, Kieran, Hallie, Grayson, August and Henley and two Goats.
He also leaves to mourn his siblings; Calvin (late Florence), Julia (Wayne). Predeceased by Lorna (Lorne), Ross-Jack (Patricia) and Gary (Heather).
Fondly remembered by his in-laws Barbara (Merrick), Beverly (Lloyd), Late Robert-Bob, Gordon (Eileen), Jeannie (Late Ronald), Harry (Helene), Louise (Gilles), Alan-Charlie and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at the South Durham United Church on Saturday August 19, 2023 from 11-1 PM followed by the service. A luncheon will be held at the Salle de Loisirs in South Durham.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the South Durham United Church Cemetery Fund or the Charity of your choice.
