It is with great sadness that we announce that John Gill passed away suddenly on July 25 at the CHUS Hôtel-Dieu de Sherbrooke at the age of 88. John was the loving husband of Norma, and brother to Robert, Edith, Laura (deceased) and Georgina (deceased). He was the father of Lee (Clarisse), Glen (Annie), Trudi (Neil), and Wayne (Angela) and the cherished grandfather of David, Sara, Shane, Brenden, Shannon, Carmen, Shayla, Kleah, and Anwyn. He was the great grandfather and friend to many.
John was born in Cookshire, Quebec and lived there most of his life aside from the last few years in Lennoxville. John greatly enjoyed his work with Bell Canada for over 35 years. He served for many years on the Municipal Council of Cookshire. He enjoyed gardening, farming and taking care of horses. John always loved fishing and hunting and eagerly participated for years in the Island Brook Fish and Game Club.
In memory of John, donations may be made to the Grace Village Retirement home in Sherbrooke, Quebec.
A memorial service will be held on August 13, 2023 at the Cass Funeral Home in Lennoxville at 2:00 p.m., followed by a burial service at the Cookshire Protestant Cemetery.
